More love
|

A while back a groom was looking for a wedding photographer to cover the amazing day of he, his bride, and their family and friends at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin. It seems the groom was sorta following the advice in my articles, unbeknownst to him. He was simply searching online for wedding photography that truly connected with him. As luck would have it, I was referred to him from another photographer and he browsed threw my website. We ended up speaking over the phone briefly and BOOM! We're going to be working together for one amazing day. ...well, I'll be working, he and his bride are going to be having a blast. :)
So with that little back story, I received this email from the groom after they signed with me:
Thanks Craig. I'm really excited that we were able to get you for our Wedding. I have literally looked at over 40 Chicago/Milwaukee photographer's websites in the past couple of days, and your portfolio seems to be in a completely different league than everyone else, imho. My fiance will be proud of me :) Look forward to meeting you!t
I can't begin to tell you how good it made me feel to read such a wonderful message. I literally shoot wedding photography for myself; so when I hear and read comments about how much people appreciate my photography, I'm absolutely touched. It's a true blessing to be able to do this for a living; capturing your heartfelt moments in such a compelling manner to receive these types of responses. Thank you so much, everyone.

A lotta love from a new fan
|

I just had to share this amazing email I received from Nicole, but I have to set up the story a bit.
If you scroll down the blog, you'll notice I shot the University of Wisconsin Spring Football game. During the game I captured an amazing heartfelt moment of a father giving his son a little kiss on the cheek. These are the little moments I live for when I'm shooting weddings. So I linked my blog post to a couple of Wisconsin Badger fan message boards — what can I say, I'm a Wisconsin Badger junkie. :) One of the members from Buckyville.com saw my link and mentioned he knew the father giving his son a kiss, and he was going to pass the link along. So this morning I woke up to a blog comment from the father's better half, Nicole. (LOL) ....I was absolutely elated I found this family, as I REALLY wanted them to have the photo. It's going to mean so much to their son when he's much much MUCH older, as he looks back at the memories of his life through family photos. The first thing I did after I read her comment was send a digital copy to Nicole so they could make a beautiful print and hang it in their Bucky Badger room. - Go Badgers! :)
So this is the email I received from Nicole about 2 hours ago:
Craig-
Thank you so much for the photo! You made my day. After I commented, I look through your blog some more. WOW! You are so talented!! You have a definite artistic eye for making ordinary things look extraordinary! Your wedding/engagement photos are AMAZING! Where were you when I got married? :) I think my favorite picture was of the couple in Chicago taken in the mirror so that you got both front and back. Way cool. I forwarded your site to my SIL who is into photography (she loves sites like yours) and she was going to post it on her message board so some of her friends who are photographers could check them out. She couldn't stop raving about your photos though. I think they look like magazine spreads. Kudos to you my dear! You are fabulous! Your blog is now bookmarked in my favorites! :)
Shooting stars,
Nicole Lipowski
Much love and so many thanks, Nicole. You made my entire 2009.

Badgers Spring Game - Madison, Wisconsin
|

Last week my friend, Neil, asked if I would like to cover the University Wisconsin Badgers 2009 spring football game for Badger Nation.com. Being a milwaukee wedding photojournalist, I felt this was an amazing (perhaps rare) opportunity to push myself, test my mettle, and grow as a true photojournalist. How could I say no? I hold tremendous respect for sports photojournalists as they have to be on their toes for anything and possess a quick draw with a super fast trigger. In some cases they'll take a crushing hit on the sidelines just to get THEE shot.
I also saw this opportunity to put my own spin on the game and slant the coverage towards the family environment......just a little bit. LOL
Why?!? Well, first of all I'm a wedding photojournalist, so how could I ignore the families sitting in the stands? The best aspect of this game is the fact it's free to the public, so there were TONS of families with little kids lining stadium. It was a literal smorgasbord of veritable heartfelt moments happening everywhere; and I couldn't help NOT cover this event from my perspective — as a Milwaukee wedding photographer. Enjoy!
Much love,

Rachel & Robert - Madison, Wisconsin
|

If you believe in fate and everything happens for a reason, or you live for a good love story, this is the story for you. :)
This is the short version; Rachel, a Milwaukee, Wisconsin native, and Robert, a transplanted Vancouver, BC gentleman living in Seattle, were both visiting Austin, Texas for unrelated business reasons. During the weekend, they found themselves out on the town at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. At one point in the evening, as fate would have it, Rachel and Robert wandered alone into a concert and found themselves standing next to each other. They began talking and before they knew it, sparks were flying. After the weekend, both returned to their respective corners of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Seattle, Washington, but they never lost contact. Fast forward to Friday, April 10, 2009 — Easter Weekend. Rachel and Robert were married at the Dane County Courthouse in Madison, Wisconsin. They were joined by a small gathering of immediate family and close friends for the short sweet ceremony. Afterward, Rachel, Robert and I ran out for a little free time portrait session and rocked the house.
They both jettisoned back to Seattle for the several months, but will be returning for a larger celebratory ceremony in Milwaukee. AH!!!! I CAN'T wait.
While they have this wonderful amazing romantic story, my day looked like this: I drove from Milwaukee to Madison to cover Rachel and Robert's wedding at 10:00 am (I wouldn't have missed it for the world). Then I drove from Madison back to Milwaukee at Noon to pack. Then my wife and I drove from Milwaukee to La Crosse, Wisconsin at 5:00 pm to spend Easter with our families. OUCH! That's nearly seven hours on the road. AH! The life of being a wedding photographer. I wouldn't change it for the world.
Thank you so much for inviting me to spend time with you and your family.
Much love,
c
