Desert shootout, take two - Carefree, Arizona
|

When you drop a Milwaukee wedding photographer in the middle of the Arizona desert, you get the equivalent of a wide-eyed child in a candy store. We just don't have anything like this in Wisconsin. I admit I was in love with the wonderful array of layers and textures at every turn. No matter which direction I was facing, I was thoroughly inspired. Then you compound the desert with all the wonderful models and photographers involved, I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend a January afternoon.
I have to give a special shout out to Mariann for organizing the shoot. I'd also like to call out the models; Nicole Mendoza, Justine Bucci, Brent Waldrep, Andrew Hlavacek, and Gina Chung. Thank you!
Lotsa love,
c

Gina Chung - Carefree, Arizona
|

Here are a few more moments with our lovely model, Gina Chung, in Carefree, Arizona during the Digital Wedding Photography Convention. How could I NOT go back and post more from this amazing session? Gina is such a beautiful person inside and out, as is clearly defined by these photos. My wife and I feel blessed to have been invited to travel to Vancouver, British Columbia to attend her wedding. I believe planning a few "day after" bridal shoots in the great Northwest is definite must. :)
Lotsa love,

Jessica & Marco - Milwaukee, Wisconsin
|

HOLY SMOKES!!! (no pun intended) What an amazing day. I first met Jessica while she was working at Innovative Fitness in Franklin, Wisconsin. She has one of the most inviting personalities of anyone I know, and it's no surprise Marco is entirely the same way. The first day my wife and I met Jessica, we sat down like we had known each other for years. And after a grueling workout, instead of going home, my wife and I would end up talking with Jess for an additional 30 minutes.
Sadly my wife and I eventually left Innovative for a gym much closer to our home, and we kinda fell out of touch. But when the time finally came, and Jessica proposed to Marco, she shot me an email - "I'M ENGAGED!" ...At that point, things just picked up where they left off from Innovative, and that certainly translated to their engagement session.
In all the time we jibber-jabbered at Innovative, I never knew Marco worked for the New Berlin Fire and Rescue Squad. The NBF&RS was kind and generous enough to open their doors for the session. Once I was in the door, I was like a little kid in a candy store walking amongst some seriously cool vehicles. They have a "Monster" Ambulance that must have a 15" ground clearance. We may be making a return visit when the department brings in their new truck. :)
And what was I thinking when I suggested Bender Park in Oak Creek, Wisconsin for last half of the session? While it was a balmy 18 degrees, and I've shot photography in the single digits, for some reason, standing on the easter banks of Wisconsin seemed so much more frigid than usual. Jessica, on the other hand, was a real trooper. She was raring to shoot anywhere in any conditions.
After the shoot we headed over to Three Cellars for a few brews. I have to say Shawn, the proprietor of this wonderful wine and liquor store, has done a marvelous job in assembling one of the most incredible beer selections available anywhere. But the kicker is, you can pull any single off the shelf and Three Cellars will chill it for immediate consumption. Then you simply grab a seat at the little granite bar or relax in their lounge. ...What other liquor store offers such an inviting atmosphere?
Jessica and Marco, all I can say is; "THANK YOU! THANK YOU! and THANK YOU!" ....and we'll have to visit Three Cellars again. :)
lotsa love,

Miranda & Adam - Chicago, Illinois
|

I know it's been a while since I've made a post, but I promise you there will be more coming. This is going to be an amazing year, and the engagement season is just beginning.
First of all I have to apologize to Adam and Miranda for taking so long to process this project, as other duties have been in the fold. But alas, here is the set. And I absolutely LOVE IT!!!!
It's always challenging for one photographer to shoot a portrait session of another photographer. The scrutiny that will befall upon your work can feel overwhelming. ....This was SO much worse. Both Adam and Miranda are the wonderful photographers at Reminisce Photography. That's double the pressure. LOL!
But this shoot was so much fun in that we made a road trip to Chicago and rummaged around the bitter cold neighborhood where Adam once proposed to Miranda. It was all of five degrees F, yet they made my job so easy. They have been one of the most photogenic couples I've ever had the pleasure to turn my camera upon. And finally, when it was all over, we crushed a famous Chicago deep dish pizza at a little local eatery. EGADS!!!! I'd love to do it again.....when it's not five degrees. ;)
Thanks so much to Adam and Miranda for trusting me with this little post-wedding engagement project.
Lotsa love,
c
