Rehearsal Dinner: On The Rocks - Bar and Grill, at the Blue Harbor Resort
It's seems like just minutes ago I was talking about Brittney and Matt's wedding. ...For me, it had to start someplace, and that someplace was photographing their rehearsal dinner at this awesome resort in Sheyboygan. And as luck would have it, it was all happening during the PGA Championship weekend, which was underway at Whistling Straits. Unfortunately I didn't get to see any Pros wandering the Blue Harbor Resort grounds. However, I did get to hangout with Brittney, Matt and their families for a couple of hours at this groovy little bar and grill.
As a precursor of what was to come on Saturday, the love within these families is spectacular. A hot little surprise fire truck cake was made for Matt (look out Duff), and a pair of special engagement prints were unveiled to the parents. All of which made for a fun little trip to Sheyboygan.
Much love,

Rehearsal Dinner: Gioco
When most couples request an additional photography session, the majority choose an engagement session. While I love engagement sessions, as they give me a little more creative freedom, I equally love shooting the rehearsal dinner — which is seemingly gaining in popularity. It's a chance for me to meet the couple's closest family and friends, so I know who the Major Players are on the wedding day. Secondly, everyone is so relaxed. It's so much easier to capture people's personalities when their guard is down. :)
For Lindsey and Mark, I had the pleasure of shooting their rehearsal dinner at an amazing little Italian eatery, Gioco. The character and charm of this Chicago restaurant is not to be missed, and the eats are simply fabulous. In fact, I plan on bringing my wife to this wonderful little gem very soon. Lindsey and Mark reserved the back room, which has the look and feel of an old Speakeasy from the 1920's prohibition era. Even more impressive at this restaurant, is their collection of nostalgic black and white photography filling the back rooms. After spending 3 hours driving through nightmare traffic, from Milwaukee to Chicago (glad I left WELL in advance), I arrived a bit ahead of schedule. This gave me a much needed white-knuckle rest, and plenty of time to browse through the photography. To say I was filled with inspiration would be to put it mildly. In fact, that collection of black and white photography is yet another reason why I'll be re-visiting Gioco.
Again, many thanks to Lindsey and Mark. I loved spending every minute of your wedding weekend with you and your family.
Much Love,
c

Rehearsal Dinner: Safe House
I don't get the chance to do a lot of these, but I just love covering the rehearsal dinner. It's a great precursor to the wedding day, and I get to meet the entire family and many of the wedding couple's closest friends. Chiara and Jordan hosted their rehearsal dinner at the Safe House in downtown Milwaukee. But be forewarned, if you've never been to this hidden Milwaukee institution, you'll need to know the password prior to entering the establishment. Lucky for me I didn't spend the entire evening on the stoop pondering the password, or getting ridiculed in the little room behind door number two. LOL
Below is a little synapsis of evening's festivities and Safe House atmosphere. I gotta add; though I resisted, those ribs were SOOOOO tempting. I'm a total sucker for Q. :)
Much love and many blessings,
